Coventry Cathedral is steeped in history, the original Cathedral, built in the 11th Century, has now gone, except for some remains to the west of the new Cathedral. A recent excavation has exposed much of the foundations of the old St Marys cathedral. In 1373 the building of the second Cathedral of St Michael began. Not far from the city centre lies Arbury Hall. This eighteenth-century Gothic mansion boasts a scenic park and garden, plus a rich collection of porcelain and furniture.
