In 1999 Crown Prince Sidi Mohammed was declared King of Morocco. After his enthronement he uncovered his ambitious development plans fro Morocco. In 2001 the Moroccan government uncovered Vision 2010 as Morocco's national tourism strategy, otherwise know as the Azur Programme.

The main objective of the vision 2010 project is to attract 5 times as many visitors in 2010 as in 2002 and in addition to create 600,000 jobs within the tourist industry.
